Odisha CM reviews preparedness for Cyclonic Storm ‘Kyant’

Naveen PatnaikChief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday called an emergency meeting  to take stock of the the preparedness to tackle the situation of possible cyclonic storm ‘Kyant’, which is moving towards the coast of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh according to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) prediction.

Chief Minister discussed the matter with 14 district collectors of sensitive districts via video conference and directed them to remain alert. Leave of all officials of 14 coastal and nearby districts have been cancelled as the districts likely to be affected by the storm.

Special relief commissioner Pradipta Mohapatra said Collectors of coastal districts, ODRAF and Fire service units have been asked to be on alert and district-level control rooms have also been made operational.

Meanwhile, the Health Department Secretary Arti Ahuja wrote letter to all the Chief District Medical Officers (CDMO) to open 24 hours control rooms and keep necessary medicines in stock.

As per IMD prediction, the coastal and southern belts of Odisha are likely to experience rainfall on October 29 and 30 due to the cyclone.
