Odisha Fire personnel launch indefinite cease-work stir across Odisha

ONI Bureau:  Odisha Fire Services personnel launched an indefinite cease-work strike across the State from today to press for their six-point charter demands.

They had been demanding equal salary and pension to Fire personnel as provisioned for Odisha police, 8-hour duty like officials in other departments, filling up vacant posts, regularisation of contractual workers, government registration of the association of the Fire personnel and pension for retired Fire Services personnel and retirement benefits.

About 5,000 firemen, havildars and fire drivers engaged in 341 different fire stations of Odisha have joined the protest. Fire services in the state are likely to be affected due to the stat-wide protest.

As per report, they have written to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik regarding their non-cooperation in Government work till their demands are not fulfilled.
