Odisha rivers in full spate, Met dept warns of heavy rain

ONI Bureau:  Heavy rain has lashed most parts of Odisha, especially southern and coastal districts, throws life out of gear.

As the water level was steadily rising at Odisha rivers, control rooms have been set up in various districts to closely monitor the water level conditions, informed the Special Relief Commissioner Bishnupada Sethi today. The Odisha government on Friday asked all the District Collectors to remain alert to meet any possible flood situation with the Met Department predicting heavy rainfall across the state in the next two days.

As per report, fire services personnel rescued 18 persons from Dunguakuda in Mathili block and Pangam who were trapped in rain waters. Likewise, Mudulipada & Andarabahal panchayats cut off from rest of the world following landslide near Bonda Ghati in Malkangiri district.

Reportedly, water level of Nagabali and Bansadhara rivers has seen an upward trend. Bansadhara flows at 82.31 mtrs against the danger mark of 84 mtrs near Gunupur.

Communication between Gopalpur-Raipur, Bhawanipatna-Thuamul Rampur & Thuamul Rampur-Kalampur disrupted due to heavy rain in Kalahandi. 5 gates of Indravati Dam opened so far.

Meantime, around 14 villages in Tenda area in Balasore District marooned after a temporary bridge connecting Pudashula-Tenda gets washed away under the impact of incessant rain in Nilagiri.
