Odisha to host Men’s Hockey World Cup in 2018

Indian men’s hockey teamOdisha will host the prestigious Men’s Hockey World Cup in 2018, and the World League final in 2017 at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

While speaking at the Junior World Chess Championship 2016, organised at KIIT University on Sunday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, “Our state is poised to host the hockey World League final next year and the prestigious men’s hockey World Cup in 2018.”

The State government has made various policies to encourage Sports persons and promote sports activities in the state, said the Chief Minister.

The temple city has already hosted the eight-nation Champions Trophy Men’s Hockey Tournament in 2014.
