Odisha ushers in New Year amid Tight Security

Bhubaneswar, Jan 1: New Year celebrated across the state amid tight security. Many hotels, night-clubs, restaurants were well decorated on the occasion of New Year celebrations here.  The capital city was seen in festive mood on Thursday night as people celebrated the night with fun, music and dance.

In order to avert any incident in the night, police department sounded alert in the capital city and deployed forces at sensitive areas across the state. In order to check, mischievous incident during the celebrations police barricaded roads in the capital city and check suspected vehicles on Thursday night.

Panic gripped in Odisha following arrest of Al Qaeda operative from Cuttack last month. However, people enjoyed the celebrations in the state without any disturbance or incidents, police officials claimed. On Friday morning, people thronged to various temples in the state to seek the blessings of Gods and Goddess on the eve of New Year.
