Odisha’s Pahala Rasogola cluster to get Geog’ Indication

Aiming to garner a global brand in the name of Pahala Rasogola, the Director of Industries, Government of Odisha on Tuesday organized a one- day sensitization programme on ‘Registration of Geographical Indication for Pahala Rasogola’ at Conference Hall of D.I.C., Bhubaneswar.

Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, Sri Panchanan Dash, Secretary, MSME Department, pointed out the need for having Geographical Indication Registration for Pahal Rasogola Cluster in order to market their products globally.

“The geographical indication will create a unique identity for the brand and enhance the growth of business as well. Selling of other inferior brand in the name of Pahal Rasogola will be then punishable under law”, he said. Shri Dash emphasized on co-operative functioning in order to achieve the desired result.

The Director of Industries, Odisha Sri Nityananda Palai promised to provide all necessary Government support in this respect. Sri Amitabh Charraborty, IPR (Intellectual Property Right) Consultant, Kolkota explained the need, benefit and process of obtaining G-I for Pahal Rasogola cluster.

General Manager, DIC, Bhubaneswar, Sri Bhuban Mohan Mohanty welcomed participants and Sri Prabhu Prasad Choudhury gave a vote of thanks. Among others, the President of Khordha Central Co-operative Bank, Sri Prasanna Kumar Das, the local representative, Sri Basudev Bhatta also addressed the gathering. As many as 47 nos. of entrepreneurs of Pahal Rasagola Cluster have participated in this programme.
