Orissa HC issues interim stay on K Madhavi’s disqualification

ONI Bureau: As a major relief to BJD corportaor and Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) Mayor K Madhavi, the Orissa High Court on Tuesday partially stayed a lower court’s order disqualifying her election as corporator.

Earlier, the Ganjam District Judge Court disqualified Madhavi on grounds of submitting false affidavit. As per report, Madhavi married for the second time without going for a legal separation with her first husband.

She was elected as the Corporator of Ward No. 16 of the 40-member civic body and was the first female Mayor of the Berhampur city.
