Patharbandha Slum Dwellers to get Concrete Houses

Patharabandha BastiSlum dwellers of Patharbandha area in the capital will get concrete houses under the Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) project, and the construction work would be completed in 22 months.

Foundation stone was laid for the construction  of 1480 concrete houses at Patharbandha slum on Monday.

On the occasion, Bhubaneswar MP Prasanna Patsani, Tourism and culture minister Ashok Panda, Bhubaneswar (North) MLA Priyadarshi Mishra, BMC Mayor Ananta Narayan, BMC Deputy Mayor K. Shanti, BMC Commissioner Dr. Krishnan Kumar and Ward councilor Lilabati Ojha were present.

The project would be completed in 22 months under the RAY project, that envisages providing shelter to hundreds of homeless  slum dwellers with an outlay of Rs 108 crore.

Patharabandha slumUnder the project, 1480 concrete houses would be constructed in a five stored building on 12.16 acres of land for the slum dwellers of the Patharbandha area.

The central government will contribute 50 per cent of the total proposed outlay and the state government would contribute 30 per cent and rest amount would be paid by the beneficiaries under the RAY.

To expedite the construction work under the RAY project at Patharbandha slum area, the BDA officials have signed agreement with the National Building Construction Corporation.
