Puri-Angul Train service upgraded to MEMU, next upgrade could be a Gatiman

ONI Bureau: The East Coast Railway decided to ply Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) service between Puri and Angul from 10 July ‘2018. The new train number shall be 68421/68422 Angul-Puri-Angul MEMU instead of 58421/58422 Angul-Puri-Angul passenger.

This new MEMU will run daily except on Mondays from Puri and on Tuesdays from Angul.

Train No. 58422 Puri-Angul passenger will leave Puri on Mondays and Train No. 58421 Angul-Puri Passenger will leave on Tuesdays as it used to.

This is the second MEMU Train to run in this region. Few months back Chairman of Smt. Nandini Satpathy Memorial Trust (SNSMT) Suparno Satpathy had requested for a Gatiman Train to be alloted to run on this route. Union Cabinet Railways Minister Piyush Goyal conveyed to this reporter that this new MEMU Train is also an upgrade from the existing passenger train service and if need arises a Gatiman Train too could be considered in future.
