Rahul Gandhi holds Talks with Civil Society Members in OdishaBhubaneswar, Sep 12: Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi during his two days visit to Odisha, on Friday met and discussed with the Odisha Civil Society Members at the Odisha Guest House here.

Around 50 Civil Society members working on different issues in the state met and openly discussed on various policy matters and implementation of issues of pro-people legislations in the state. The meeting was coordinated by noted RTI Activist, Pradip Pradhan.

In the meeting, the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee President, Prasad Kumar Harichandan and Oppositionand Senior Congress leader Narasingha Mishra were also present.

The important issues shared before Rahul Gandhi by the civil society members includes illegal mining, Chit fund scam, Non implementation of National Food Security Act, Lokpal Lokayukta Act, Whistle Blower Protection Act,  illegal land acquisition in the State, violations of Forest Rights Act, 2006 and Central PESA Act, 1996 in the State, non-implementation of RTE Act, Violation of Human rights and Child Rights Act, bonded labour and Migrant labour issue etc.  in the state.

Various sangathan also submitted petition to Rahul Gandhi and requested him to raise their issues in the Parliament and to pressurise both the ModiGovernment at the Centre and Naveen Government in the State.

Interacting with the Civil Society Members Rahul Gandhi said “we have successfully dismantled Modi’s dream to change the Land Acquisition Act 2013 bringing Land Ordinances and continued to fight for this in future”. He also emphasized the role of Civil Society Organisaions in the society and appreciated the efforts of the civil society members for raising common man’s rights issue and miss-governance by the State and Central Governments.
