Renowned Odia Scientist Prof Janardan Nanda passes away

Janardan NandaNoted Odia Scientist and Ex-Professor of Department of Electrical Engineering and Dean at IIT, Delhi Janardan Nanda breathed his last at about 4.30 pm on Tuesday at his Delhi residence. He was 80.

Prof Nanda was the former Vice President of Indian National Science Academy (INSA). He was an authority in electrical engineering and power solutions and also an advisor to Ministry of Power, who engaged in R&D and worked for the improvement of technical education in India.

Prof Nanda was also a member of National Board of Accreditation and Chairman of Engineering Accreditation Committee for all under UG and PG programmes across the country, including National Institutes of Technology (NITs).

Besides, Prof Nanda was on the governing boards of prestigious institutes including Roorkee University, IIT, Delhi, Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research, Mumbai, Central Power Research Institute, Bengaluru, and Netaji Subash Bose Institute, Delhi .
