Sarathi Baba Case: Odisha Police to visit Hyderabad

Sarathi Baba OdishaBhubaneswar, Aug 14: A team of Odisha police crime branch will visit Hyderabd to probe the alleged sexual escapades of controversial godman Srimad Sarathi alias Sarathi Baba, police said on Friday.

“The team is likely to leave on Monday to visit the Golconda Hotel in Hyderabad to verify hotel records about Sarathi’s stay there,” Additional Director General of (ADG) of crime branch B.K. Sharma said.

Sarathi had a three-day stay at a star-rated hotel in Hyderabad along with a woman disciple in July this year.

He said the crime branch has received some information about the dwelling of the godman in the hotel, where he paid Rs.30,000 with his debit card.

The team would also verify the CCTV footage of the period when the Baba stayed there.

Meanwhile, the woman in question recorded her statement before the court of Judicial Magistrate of First Class in Cuttack under Section 164 of the CrPC.

The woman has revealed the details of her relationship with the self-proclaimed godman and her visit to Hyderabad, said crime branch sources.

With the crime branch investigating about the ill-gotten money of the godman, it has already unearthed huge movable and immovable properties in the name of Sarathi Baba.

The crime branch has seized at least 50 property documents in the name of Satyam Charitable Trust, which is in the name of his adopted son Satyam Roul, said crime branch sources.

It has also frozen at least 30 bank accounts operated by the godman. (IANS)
