School & Mass Education Dept Issues Guidelines For Strict Implementation of COVID19 Protocols

Fearing a possible resurgence of COVID-19 in Odisha, the School and Mass Education (SME) department has instructed the District Education Officers (DEOs) for ensuring strict implementation of COVID19 protocols.

“The teachers and concerned authorities shall ensure observance of COVID-19 safety protocols such as mandatory wearing of mask, maintaining physical distance and provision of thermal scanning & hand wash or use of sanitizer by the students, teachers, staff and others,” the letter written by Additional Secretary Pratap Kumar Mishra read.

The SME department has also instructed to only allow curricular activities in the educational institutions.

“Nothing other than the curricular activities shall be allowed in educational institutions,” it said.

The Addl Secretary also sought the DEOs to ensure proper sanitation and hygiene in the campus.

The guidelines have been issued after a few states reported fresh spike in cases.

Not adhering to the prescribed guidelines will be viewed strictly, the guideline added.

Meanwhile, a government school in IRC Village was shut for two days after a teacher tested positive for COVID19.
