Self-styled Godman of Odisha, Sarathi Baba ‘exposed’ by Media

Sarathi Baba of Barimul Ashram in Odisha’s Kendrapara district, who claimed himself to be a Godman, has been exposed by the media with the help of his former aide Kailash Mallick, who leaked his secret info to the media. The latest development has triggered a storm in Odisha and also hurt the sentiments of his followers.

Odia Weekly newspaper, ‘Bajrakeela’, had sought to expose him a few months ago and continuously published reports on his ‘misdeeds’ and ‘sexual’ adventure. But, nobody took the newspaper seriously.

The same report, which was published on ‘Bajrakeela’ a month ago, were telecast by Prameya News7 TV yesterday along with additional info. Later, Zee Kalinga TV too took up the news.

As per the reports, Sarathi Baba stayed at the Golconda Hotel in Hyderabad last month. He stayed with a woman and identified her as his wife. They stayed together for three days in Room No. 607 of the hotel. The report claimed that Baba used to stay in Hyderabad with selected women from Odisha on previous occasions too.

The Baba was spotted in modern attire. His hotel bills showed that he took tandoor chicken, eggs, foreign liquor etc. during his stay. He pretended of going for Ganga Snan, but went to Hyderabad.

Sarathi Baba has been a regular feature on Prarthana TV. His sermons and ‘prabachana’ attracted lakhs of people in the state.

After the issue was highlighted by the media yesterday, Sarathi Baba came out of the ashram and spent some time with his followers. He rubbished all charges and claimed of a conspiracy to malign him. He asked his critics to provide substantial claims to prove charges against him.

Meanwhile, heavy police deployment has been made around the ashram to prevent any untoward incident.
