State plans to create Urban Land Banks in Cities

The State Government on Thursday asked the Housing and Urban Development departments to create urban land bank for providing land for construction of houses for urban poor.

During a review meeting on progress of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana for urban poor, Chief Secretary Aditya Padhi directed the department to identify unused land under the possession of government departments and private oragnisations.

The department also directed to take the assistance of Odisha Space Application Centre (ORSAC) for the survey.

Reportedly, the project work will begin in 40 cities across 27 districts with a target to construct 50,000 houses in the first phase.
