Stone Slab falls off Puri Jagannath Temple

A stone slab fell from Jalakrida Mandap near Bimla Temple inside ShriMandir – Jagannath temple in Puri on Monday morning. Panic gripped inside the temple but no one was injured in the incident as devotees were not present there. The stone slab weights around 30-40 kg. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) official have been investigating into the matter and trying to locate the portion of the temple – from where the stone fell. A team of officials were inspected the roof of the Bimla Mandap

This incident took place at around 10.30 am inside the temple premise, near Bimala temple. ASI official have been taking care and conservation the 12th century Jagannath temple. Similar stone falling incidents were reported in 2001 and 2012.
