Traces of Formalin found in fish collected from Sambalpur Dist

ONI Bureau:  Traces of formalin chemical causing cancer found in two fishes during examination of fish samples collected from Kulutakanhi in Sambalpur district today.

The fishes will be sent to Bhubaneswar lab for further examination, said Deputy Director of Fisheries.

Raids on at several fish markets in Sambalpur and Bolangir districts including Ainthapali, Budharaja and Govindtola by officials of Fisheries Department and Sambalpur Municipal Corporation.

Raids are also on at different fish outlets in Khurda, Cuttack, Rourkela and various parts across State to collect fresh samples. However, the fish mongers clarified that they had stopped importing fish from Andhra Pradesh after traces of Formalin were found in their supply.
