Two more Farmers commit suicide in Nabarangpur District

Drought-OdishaNabarangpur, Nov 6: Two more farmers ended their lives in Nabarangpur district on Friday due to alleged crop loss and debt burden. As per reports, Baladev Gond of Nangaguda in Umerkote tehsil and Chaituram Gond of Mauradehi in Raigarh tehsil have committed suicide in the district.

Baladev has been missing for long since October 18 and his body was found today near a river. His family members claimed that he had taken loan for agriculture purpose but due to crop loss he was under mental stress.

Similarly, the other farmer, Chaituram, who also committed suicide, had taken loan for agriculture activities. He taken such extreme step following alleged crop loss. Taking serious note over the farmers’ suicide in the district, local MLA staged dharna in the district demanding Rs 10 lakh as compensation to the family members of deceased farmers.
