Vaccination Training Programme to tackle Japanese Encephalitis begins

vaccination-japanese-encephalitisThe National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) Authority on Wednesday started training programme to provide vaccination in order to tackle Japanese Encephalitis (JE) in Odisha.

Nodal officers from four districts including, Malkangiri, Koraput, Jajpur and Keonjhar are taking part in the immunization training programme.

The children between the age group of 1 to 15 would be given JE vaccination across the four districts in the state.

Though the date of vaccination is not decided yet, it is advised to the concerned nodal officers not to administer JE vaccine to the children who are suffering from fever or any diseases.

It is to be noted that, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will visit Malkangiri on November 10 to take stock of the situation and he may announce compensation to the families, who lost their children by the deadly disease.

So far, the deadly Japanese Encephalitis has claimed the lives of  82 children in Malkangiri district, while death toll in  the Koraput distict has reached to 12 in last one and half months.
