IPL 8: KKR beat Mumbai Indians by 7 Wickets

KKRDefending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) started their IPL 8 campaign in style, as they thrashed the Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets in the opening game of this year’s Indian Premier League tournament.

Thanks to Rohit Sharma’s unbeaten knock of 98 off 65 balls and Corey Anderson’s 55*, Mumbai Indians posted 168/3 in 20 overs although they were 37/3 at one stage. Morne Morkel took two wickets for KKR.

Gautam Gambhir played a match-winning knock of 57 and was well supported by Manish Pandey (40). However, it was Suryakumar Yadav, who played an explosive knock of 46* off 20 balls to see his team through. KKR reached 170/3 in 18.3 overs. Morne Morkel was declared ‘Man of the Match’.
