Odisha-Vidarbha Ranji Match ends in Draw

The Ranji Trophy match between Odisha and Vidarbha ended in a draw, but on the basis of first innings lead, Vidarbha gained three points, while Odisha had to manage with just one point. The Odisha batsmen miserably failed on the green turf wicket of Sambalpur.

Odisha must consider itself fortunate to save the match, as the first day’s play was completely washed out due to rain. Or else, Vidarbha would get full six points from this match, thanks to the pathetic show by Odisha batsmen.

Vidarbha had scored 240 in the first innings. Ganesh Satish was the top scorer at 99. Basant Mohanty and Biplab Samantray had taken three wickets each. Deepak Behera took two wickets. Odisha scored 137/9 in the first innings. Biplab and Deepak scored 33 runs each. For Vidarbha, Shrikant Wagh and Swapnil Bandiwar took three wickets each, while Ravikumar Dhoopnarayan Thakur took two wickets.

In the second innings, Vidarbha declared at 165/2 and set a victory target of 269 before Odisha. Ganesh Satish remained not out on 54. Faiz Fazal (37), Aniruddha Chore (36) and Badrinath (23*) were the other contributors.

Chasing a victory target of 269, Odisha were 117/6 when the match was called off. Abhilash Mallick remained not out on 32. Shrikant Wagh took three wickets, while Faiz Fazal took two wickets.
