The BCCI selectors have finally announced a 15-member team for the 2015 World Cup team under the leadership of MS Dhoni. Yuvraj Singh, who has impressed with his performance in Ranji Trophy 2014, failed to make the cut, while Ravindra Jadeja has been included in the team. He will be fit within 10 days.
Stuart Binny has received the nod to play in the World Cup. Eyebrows were raised when his father and former cricketer Roger Binny, who is also a Selector, arrived late at the meeting. Dhoni reportedly opposed any move to include Yuvraj Singh in the team although selectors were in his favour.
The team is comprised of seven regular batsmen, seven bowlers and a wicket-keeper batsman. The 2015 World Cup will be held from 14th February till 28th March 2015. It will be hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
Yuvraj Singh has so far scored 520 runs in just five innings in this Ranji Trophy season, while playing for Punjab. He scored 182, 59, 130, 136 and 13. Yuvi, who battled cancer to return to cricket field, was instrumental in India’s World Cup victory in 2011.
