In a desperate bid to outwit its erstwhile partner Hero Motocorp and tap the Indian market, Honda is planning to launch a series of new motorbikes in India in the coming months. The new bikes will be in the motorcycle and scooter segment. In total, 10 new products will be launched by Honda and will be developed at its Manesar plant near Gurgaon.
The local R&D centre in Gurgaon will receive technical assistance and advice from Honda’s headquarter in Japan. Out of the 10 products to be launched, 7 will be the existing ones, but to be modified with the addition of latest technology and features. Three products will be brand new.
Honda is also planning to to launch a new, low-cost motorcycle for the Indian market in the range of Rs 40,000, which may trigger a price war in the bike market in the country.
