Asia Marks 10th Anniversary of Indian Ocean Tsunami

tsunamiPeople still remember the havoc of the natural disaster Tsunami that struck on 26 December 2014. The 10th anniversary of horrific natural disaster was observed in India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Thailand and other tsunami hit nations.

Sri Lanka was one of the worse hit countries among eleven countries, as around 35,000 deaths reported. In the Asia-Pacific region, nearly 2, 30,000 people were killed in the natural disaster that even recorded in history.

Sri Lanka has observed the anniversary of the natural disaster commemorating the people the country lost. The nation has seen earthquake of 9.1 magnitude and tsunami triggered in the Indian Ocean.

Indonesia is another country that affected largely by the tsunami in Indian Ocean. The Vice President Jusuf Kalla paid tributes to the victims of Indian Ocean tsunami at Siron mass grave. The province of Aceh of Indonesia has been the worse hit area in the tsunami.

Memorial ceremonies were held in the country Thailand – one of the countries that were in the core of the Indian Ocean tsunami.
