US Court quashes 1984 Anti-Sikh Riots case against Sonia Gandhi

1984 Anti-Sikh RiotsNew York, Aug 26: A court in New York quashed Nov 1984 anti-Sikh riots violence case against Congress President Sonia Gandhi. A petition was filed Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) in 2013 against Sonia Gandhi over the riots that took place in 1984 following assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

In the petition SFJ alleged Sonia Gandhi of shielding and protecting Congress leaders those were reportedly involved in inciting violence against Sikh Community. Three-member Judge Panel hearing the petition, the court affirmed the district courts’ order over the law suit filed by the SFJ.
