Section 144 not imposed at KIIT Campus: Twin City Police Commissioner

ONI Bureau: Contrary to media reports, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty revealed that Section 144 was never imposed at the KIIT Campus during violent clashes between two groups.

The Police Commissioner further said that there was no critical head injury as reported in a section of media. There was no critical injury and all the injured have been discharged from hospitals, he added. He also added that 5 students were arrested in connection with the violent clashes. The police is probing the matter and all hooligans will be identified soon, he added.

It can be recalled that the KIIT University had turned into a war zone on November 24 night after the Engineering students clashed with Law students over an incident of eve-teasing. Several students were injured in the clashes and special reserve police forces were deployed to restore law and order. Two hostels were vacated on the orders of KIIT Management.

The KIIT University had earlier released a press release, issuing their clarification on this matter.
