To tackle the situation of sluggishness in economic activity owing to the Coronavirus lockdown & expenditures incurred to address the pandemic, the Odisha government ordered deferment of wages and salaries of several departments and officers.
A release from the State government stated that given the economic shock caused due to the lockdown and expenses incurred to control COVID-19, the government has opted for postponement of wages and salaries.
The list includes:
*Ministers
*Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs)
*government servants
There will be a 70% postponement in the total salary of the Chief Minister, ministers, MLAs, chairperson of corporations and elected representatives of all local bodies. Furthermore, there will be a delay of 50% of the gross salary of IAS, IPS & IFS officers with immediate effect.
Rajasthan and Telangana Govt have also undergone a similar phenomenon.
