Department of Culture mobilises Art Groups through Orientation

culture departmentBhubaneswar, Oct 10: A three day Communication Training Programme is being organised by Department of Culture, Govt of Odisha in Bhubaneswar for orientation on communication, community dialog tools and effective mechanism as well as prospective planning on awareness programme. The two phased training programme to be commenced from 13th of this month will ensure participation of District Culture Officers, members of Artist Federations, District & Block level Kala Sanskruti Sangha.

Formed under the aegis of Department of Culture and technically as well as financially supported by UNICEF, ZKSS and BKSS are the key initiatives of government taken up in 2011 with diversified objectives, like promoting and protecting traditional folk art forms, providing sustainable livelihood to artists engaged in such art forms and to associate them in IEC activities. It has also been felt to empower the officials working in the field of communication through capacity building and strengthening of behavioral environment. This residential programme will provide and facilitate for adequate feedback, information output and communication skill to empower the concerned trainees to work meaningfully in the field. While communication has been emerging as a cross cutting, requiring multidimensional programme approach, this training programme also aims to equip the senior professionals with knowledge, idea and development practice.

Till now 314 artist groups in Block level and 30 groups at district level recognised as BKSS and ZKSS respectively have been registered under the Society Registration Act including 7482 art groups engaged in 471 art forms through which 83,054 individual artists have been benefited, being provided with Rs. 7.78 crores through various Departments in shape of direct and indirect convergence for disseminating information on various schemes and programmes run by them.
