Red Cross organises Heart Awareness programme in Bhubaneswar

Red CrossBhubaneswar, Dec 22: Heart Disease is a life threatening event and everyone should know the warning signs of Heart Attack, knowing the symptoms of heart disease & seeking immediate attention is essential to prevent death due to heart attack & also to lessen the amount of damage to the heart.

To raise awareness of the importance of our overall health and to reduce the frequency and impact of heart disease and its associated health problems, the Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch (IRCS-OSB) in collaboration with Science & Art of Living(SAAOL), Bhubaneswar organised the Heart Awareness Programme at Red Cross Bhavan, Unit – IX, Bhubaneswar on Monday.

Dr. Chakradhar Panda, Honorary Secretary, IRCS-OSB OSB presided over the programme and welcomed all the participants and said that “Prevention is better than Cure”. Treatment for the Heart disease is very costly and it is difficult for a common man to afford treatment cost. Hence, through this public awareness initiative Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch can send the message to the public about the importance of our heart to our overall health.

A power point presentation on Heart Disease was made by Dr. Srinivas Rao, Heart Specialist, SAAOL, Hyderabad. He described about the basic reasons of heart disease and how we prevent ourselves from heart diseases. More than 70 participants participated in the programme. Sri Ranjan Kumar Mohanty, Project Coordinator, MMU,IRCS-OSB offered vote of thanks & Smt. Gourimani Biswal assisted the programme.
