Land Ordinance to Lapse, 13 Points announced for Farmers

Modi-UAEThe Narendra Modi Government has decided to allow the Land Ordinance to lapse, but will bring 13 key points under Rules, which will directly benefit the farmers. Once the Ordinance lapses, the old clauses will remain intact without any changes. It’s considered as a big u-turn by the Modi Government to save its image.

“Amendment is essential for construction of canals for irrigation, for electrification of villages, for constructing rural roads. However, some people are spreading the rumours and misinformation to create fear and panic among the farmers. Our government is committed to benefits and growth of farmers. And, we will continue to work towards it,” said PM Narendra Modi in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address.

“The government is open to any suggestion in the interest of the farmer on Land Acquisition Act. The demand for amendments to Land Acquisition Act came from States”, he also said.

“‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’ is not a mere slogan, but it is a Mantra for us for the welfare of villages, farmer and poor. I had promised on August 15 to change the name of department of Agriculture to department of agriculture and farmer welfare,” he further added.
