Opposition Delegation from J&K meets PM, urges ban on Pellet Guns

delegation of Opposition Parties from Jammu & Kashmir-ModiA joint delegation of Jammu and Kashmir’s opposition parties, led by National Conference leader Omar Abdullah, submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday seeking an immediate ban on pellet guns in the state that have caused grievous injuries and blinded many innocent people.

Besides Omar, Shri Ghulam Ahmed Mir, INC; Shri Hakeem Mohammad of People’s Democratic Front; Shri M.Y. Tarigami, CPM; Shri Ghulam Hassan Mir of Democratic Party Nationalist; and others are also present in the meeting.

The Prime Minister expressed deep concern and pain at the prevailing situation in the State. He said that those who lost their lives during recent disturbances are part of us, our nation; whether the lives lost are of our youth, security personnel or police, it distresses us.
