7.5 Quake in Pokhara triggers Mild Tremors in OdishaMild tremors have been felt across Odisha today at around 11:50 am. Despite mild tremors, people were seen in panic and came out of their buildings. The main epicentre of the earthquake was in Nepal, measured 7.9 on Richter scale. The earthquake measured on Richter scale was 5 in Delhi, 6 in Bihar and it could be 3-4 in Odisha.

In Bhubaneswar, people came out of their residences after the tremors. It was a chaos at IDCO Tower at Rupali Square; all the employees of various offices in the building came out of the building and gathered on road following the tremors. People residing in high-rise apartments came out of their buildings as soon as they felt tremors. It is believed the tremors felt in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and other districts were lasted for 30 seconds. However, people feel that it lasted for 10-15 seconds in Odisha.

It was panic situation at the high-rise localities in the capital city, as people witnessed shaking buildings. Tremors were in Khorda, Jagasingpur, Jharsuguda, Kendrapara, Puri, Sonepur and Cuttack. Some coastal districts were also felt mild tremors in the state.

Sarat Sahu, director of the Indian Meteorological Department, Bhubaneswar, said the intensity of the quake in the state was 2 in the Ritcher scale.

Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradipta Mohapatra said there has been no loss of life in the state.

“We hope there was no loss of life due to the quake. We are collecting reports from the districts for detailed reports about the outcome of the mild tremors,” said Mohapatra. (with inputs from IANS)
