Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, on Thursday, inaugurated a tea packaging Unit of Tata Consumer Products Limited at Gopalpur Industrial Park in Ganjam.
The Plant has been commissioned in a span of 18 months with an investment of Rs 100 crore. It is expected to provide employment opportunities to more than 900 persons in the district of Ganjam.
Currently, the Tata tea packaging unit in Ganjam has a production capacity of 15 million kgs tea, which will be further enhanced to 50 million KGs. The Unit will cater to the needs of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Karnatak, Tamilnadu, Telengana and Central India.
Amalgamated Plantations Private Limited, an associate of Tata consumers will be operating the plant. It is currently the second largest tea producer in India.
