ONI Bureau: In the era of fake news syndrome and unverified WhatsApp forwards, one must verify facts before spreading it further. It happened in Odisha on Sunday when a WhstsApp video was circulated, saying an overhead water tank collapsed in Nayapalli area of Bhubaneswar.
The shocking part of the story was a leading TV channel added its logo and watermark to the video and tweeted from its official handle. When some people on Twitter confirmed that it was a hoax, the channel deleted the tweet and later apologised.
As the video went viral with peoole taking strong exception to such an incident (although no TV channel reported it) and slamming the Governnent, Odisha News Insight tried to educate the people on various forums not to believe any such news.
News of Water Tank collapse in Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar is FAKE.
The video that's going viral is not from #Odisha & was uploaded on YouTube 8 months ago.

The incident occurred long ago outside Odisha. And, the video was uploaded on YouTube 8 months ago. The BMC (Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation
) also tweeted urging people not to believe such rumours.
It is always a good practice to get the facts checked before publishing anything in Social Media. The concerned video of ESR failure is neither of #Bhubaneswar nor of any place concerning #Odisha. #DontFallForRumors @odisha_police @homeodisha @BBSRBuzz pic.twitter.com/uI59cRAtdp
