Bhubaneswar hosts mega Conclave on Capital Goods for Steel Sector

ONI Bureau:The Capital city host a conclave on ‘Capital Goods in Steel Sector: Manufacture in India’ on Tuesday.

Organised by the Ministry of Steel, the one-day event aimed at promoting domestic capacity and capability building besides manufacturing of capital goods in the steel sector.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Steel Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister for Heavy Industry and Public Sector Enterprises Anant Gangaram Geethe and Minister of State for Steel Vishnu Deo Sai were attended the conclave.

Gracing the inaugural session, Dharmendra Pradhan said that India rose to 39th rank above in global ease of doing business ranking. Odisha will be one of the Capital Goods manufacturing hub in near future, said Dharmendra Pradhan in Bhubaneswar today.

5000 KM new National Highways will be construed in Odisha. Another 100 KM 8-laned dedicated fright corridor will be built between Paradip and Kalinganagar. A new Waterways between Paradip and Dhamara port is being built, said Pradhan.

Rs 12,000 Cr is being invested to set up 12 Bio Refineries in the Country. One unit is to be built in Odisha. City Gas Supply Projects will be installed in 19 districts of Odisha. Also Gas Pipeline will run through 13 industrial districts of the State. A Gas Pipeline is built between Paradip to UP with an investment of Rs 13,000 Crore, informed Dharmendra Pradhan.

He also urged Odisha Government to reduce VAT on Petrol and Diesel to pass on the benefits to consumers. He says the State Government is collecting a huge amount of Rs 7000 Cr VAT from Petroleum products.

While addressing the inaugural session of the Conclave Naveen Patnaik said that the state produces about half of the country’s iron ore and Odisha has emerged as the major steel hub of the country.

This State contributes nearly 14% of the total mineral production in India. The installed capacity of crude steel making in Odisha has grown to 33 million tonnes (MT) per annum today from 4 million tonnes (MT) in 1999-2000,” Patnaik stated.

Union Steel Minister Birender Singh said, 128 bn USD will be invested to create new steel capacity in order to meet the demand of the country by 2030-31, however 500 million USD will be invested every year for manufacturing Capital goods said Union Steel Minister Birender Singh.

Union Minister Shri Geete announced an Industrial Park to build equipment and machinery for steel sector in Odisha. He sought the help of Government of Odisha to start this project as early as possible.

The CM along with Union Ministers released ‘Coffee Table Book’ and the ‘Conclave Report’ at the Conclave on Capital Goods for Steel Sector today.
