Elephant Attacks Across Odisha, 3 Including A Minor Killed

Three persons including a seven year minor lost their lives and one injured in three separate elephant attacks in Talcher, Bonai and Dhenkanal districts of the state today.

As per the locals, on February 28, two tuskers from Mahabir road forest range had strayed into Gurujang village near the Talcher town and destroyed houses and crops in the area. Perhaps one of the two tuskers killed Kedar Nath Prasad, an elderly man in Deulabeda area of Talcher.

Similarly, a seven year old minor in Baraghat village under Bonai forest range in Sundergarh died after a wall collapsed on the child sleeping when an elephant tried to enter the house to eat paddy kept in the house.
In another incident in Dhenkanal, an elderly man, Dayanidhi Sahu (65) was attacked while he was on his way to take bath in the village pond. A woman also sustained serious injuries in the same area by elephant attack.

A team of forest and police personnel reached the spot after receiving information to drive away the tuskers. The administration officials also reached to hand over compensation to the family of the victims.
