England Hockey Players set up their own Kitchen

ONI Bureau: Ahead of the much-awaited Hockey World Cup 2018 in Bhubaneswar, which would kick off on November 28, it came to light that England players have refused to have Hotel food due to some bitter experience in the past and instead took a restaurant on rent for a month. Although nothing has been said officially, it’s believed that some England players had stomach upset in the past that prompted them to opt for food cooked by own Chef.

The ‘Smog’ Restaurant near Sainik School in Gajapati Nagar in Bhubaneswar has been roped in. The Chefs of English Team have already arrived to take care of food of their players. A dedicated kitchen has been set up under the supervision of England Chefs. The players will stay at Mayfair, but will take breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Smog Restaurant only.

Mayfair Hotels would accommodate players from 5 teams. However, no other teams have sought alternate food arrangements. The State Government has already directed the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) to engage Food Safety Inspectors to do a regular check-up of kitchens at all 8 hotels where Hockey teams will be staying and ensure proper food quality.
