Ex-MP Pradeep Majhi sent to Jail, Congress calls for Nabarangpur Bandh on Tuesday

Pradeep MajhiOn Saturday, police had arrested former Congress MP Pradip Majhi along with nineteen Congress workers and sent them to Umerkote jail on charges of attacking the Raighar forest range office and beating up forest ranger.

They demonstrated demanding immediate allotment of forest land patta to tribals and conduct of a fresh survey to identify eligible BPL beneficiaries of ration cards.

Pradip Majhi along with some other Congress activists have started a hunger strike in the jail. In this regards Congress calls Nabarangpur district bandh on Tuesday.

Sources said that, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee President, Prasad Harichandan, Senior Congress leader, Bhakta Charan Das and other leaders are vising Umerkote to meet Pradip Majhi and other local leaders.
