Former Odisha CM Giridhar Gamang resigns from Congress

Veteran Congress leader, former Union Minister, nine-time Congress MP from Koraput and former Odisha CM, Giridhar Gamang resigns from the primary membership of the party. It is not immediately known what will be his future course of action. According to sources, he is in touch with both BJP and BJD and may join either party very soon.

“I have been humiliated by the Congress leaders in Odisha. I am resigning from the party in disgust. But, I have no ambition to join any other political party. I will take a decision on my political steps at an appropriate time,” he said.

His son Shishir Gamang may join the BJP, it is believed. Shishir Gamang has been making overtures to the saffron party in the recent days. Some people say that Giridhar Gamang took the decision to quit Congress to rebuild his son’s political career.
