Jagannath Temple Reforms: Amicus Curiae urges Servitors not to receive Donations

ONI Bureau:  The Supreme Court-appointed amicus curiae Gopal Subramanium on Saturday urged the servitors not to receive any form of donations (dakshina) from the devotees.

Gopal Subramanium who was on a two-day visit to Puri Jagannath temple, held discussions with Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Puri Shankaracharya on Friday.

While holds discussions with Chhatisa Nijog (servitors’ body), the senior lawyer on Saturday, amicus curiae directed the servitors to show good manners, obedience, maintain transparency and discipline while performing their services at the 12th century shrine.

Reportedly, SC-appointed amicus curiae will come to the shrine after 21 days to investigate whether the directions have been followed or not. Following it another meeting will be held to submitting final report to the Supreme Court.
