Kendrapara Boat Capsize: Death toll mounts to 9

ONI Bureau:   Death toll in the tragic boat capsize incident in Mahanadi river mouth near Nipania in Kendrapara district has reached 9 on Thursday.

The mishap occurred when picnickers of around 55 persons from Hasina village of Jagatsinghpur were returning home from Hukitola Lighthouse in Paradip.

According to reports, the overcrowded boat overturned when the sailor had gone to attend nature’s call in mid way.

Expressing deep concern, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced Rs 4 lakh rupees ex-gratia for the kin of the deceased.
