LS Speaker urged to accept Baijayant Panda’s resignation as a MP

ONI Bureau: The BJD parliamentary party leader in Lok Sabha Bhartruhari Mahtab and chief whip Tathagat Satpathy on Tuesday urged Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to accept resignation of Baijayant Panda as a Parliamentarian, who has already submitted his resignation letter earlier.

In a letter to the Speaker on Monday, Mahtab and  Satpathy have said that “Since he has resigned of his own accord, the proceedings for his disqualification under the tenth schedule need not be initiated by our party.”.

Quoting from the letter, former MP Jay Panda tweeted, “Not need not, but cannot. Have some self respect. I did.”
