Naveen Patnaik orders SIT Probe into Kunduli Tragedy

ONI Bureau: Under fire from several quarters, including Opposition, Public, NHRC and National SC Commission, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik has ordered SIT probe into Kunduli gangrape and subsequent suicide. The CM has also assured free and fair probe into the incident.

The victim’s family had yesterday moved the SC Commission with the allegations that two police officers from Pottangi had concealed the suicide note.

The SIT will probe the matter under the direct supervision of the court. “Justice will be delivered without any fear or bias. I am committed to ensure safety and security of women of my state,” said Naveen Patnaik.

Earlier, the CM had ordered Crime Branch and then judicial probe into the case. The victim from Musaguda village in Kunduli under Pottangi police station, was allegedly gangraped by 4 men in uniform on October 10. After failing to get justice, she committed suicide on January 22.
