Odisha assigns 500 ODRAF, Fire Personnel To Cyclone Amphan-Hit West Bengal

Odisha govt, a day after assuring West Bengal of all assistance to deal with the aftermath of cyclone Amphan, deployed a team of 500 personnel from Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and Fire Service to actively work in rescue and relief services in the neighbouring State.

Characterizing cyclone Amphan as one of the most damaging disasters to have hit West Bengal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said the people of Odisha stand by West Bengal during this unprecedented crisis. “Odisha has sent a team of 500 members, including 300 fire personnel & 10 ODRAF teams to assist in relief & rescue operations,” he tweeted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday had announced advance financial assistance of Rs 1,000 crore to West Bengal and Rs 500 crore to Odisha following an aerial review in both the states to assess the extent of damages caused by the supper cyclonic storm.
