Odisha CM felicitates Jauna Murmu, forgets Dutee and Srabani?

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik felicitated Jauna Murmu, who had won a Gold and a Silver at the NAtional Open Athletics Championship in Kolkata last week. However, he forgot to felicitate two other Athletes. Leading Odia Daily Sambad highlighted the issue.

Dutee Chand, who had won triple gold medals at the same championship after a comeback from the traumatic suspension and Srabani Nanda, who won 1 Gold and 2 Silver medals, were not invited by the CM for felicitation.

It is believed that Sports and Youth Services Minister Sudam Marandi, who hails from Mayurbhanj, did not forget Jauna, who belongs to his district, but did not bother about Dutee and Srabani. Other sources say, as Dutee and Srabani represented Railways at the meet, they were not felicitated.

Hopefully, good sense will prevail and the other Athletes will also be felicitated soon. Dutee had won Gold medals in Women’s 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay. Srabani won the Gold in 4x100m relay, while she clinched silver medals in 100m and 200m.
