Bhubaneswar, May 27:The MSME Department, Government of Odisha has taken the initiative for marketing the MSME products in the State as well as outside the State including Exports to other Countries under the Brand Marketing. The Odisha Small Industries Corporation (OSIC) has been entrusted with the brand building under two major brand name Odi-Food (for food items) & Odi-Tech (for non-food items).
Odi-Food series has already been launched by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Odisha in the MSME Trade Fair -2015. The Double Fortified Salt is the first item to be launched in the Odi-Food series.
Now OSIC is launching the Odi-Tech series the brand promotion of non food products manufactured by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and the first products to be included in the series is Agricultural products (i) Power Thresher cum-Winnower (ii) Pedal Thresher (iii) Cono Weeder (iv) Heavy Soil Plough with an intention to provide qualitative products to the beneficiaries as per the design and specification of Directorate of Agricultural and Food Production, Odisha.
It is noteworthy to mention here that the State MSMEs are manufacturing high quality products but due to non-availability of proper platform their products are not coming to the limelight in the National and International market.
By taking this initiative of Brand Building and Marketing of MSME products through OSIC, the MSME Department has taken a bold step for popularization and sale of MSME products as a long term policy initiative of the State Government. In the near future many items are expected to be brought under Odi-Food and Odi-Tech through OSIC.
At present the OSIC is discussing with various apex Industrial Associations of the State to short list the products which will be brought under Brand Marketing in coming future. Besides above the OSIC proposes to include Cashew Products, Turmeric Powder, Chilli Powder, Rice produced by Tribals in KBK Districts which are very famous in the National and International market but the farmers who are harvesting these products are not getting their due prices because of their inability to market their products in a organized manner. OSIC will organize these sectors and promote the above product on its plat form under Brand Marketing. Similarly many other technical items as well as food items shall be included gradually for marketing under Odi-Tech & Odi-Food series which will enhance the sale of these products manufactured by MSMEs of the State.
Today Shri Jogendra Behera, Hon’ble Minister, MSME, PG&PA launched the Odi-tech implements in the presence of Chief Secretary Shri Gokul Chandra Pati, IAS, Commissioner cum Secretary, Fisheries and A.R.D. Department Shri Bishnupada Sethi, IAS, MSME Department Secretary, Shri Panchanan Dash, ISS, Commissioner cum Director, Agriculture & Food Production Dr. Pramod Kumar Meharda, IAS and OSIC Managing Director.
