Rahul Gandhi visits Sishu Bhawan, slams Naveen Government

Even as PCC President Prasad Harichandan claimed that Rahul Gandhi is visiting Cuttack Sishu Bhawan on humanitarian grounds and not to derive any political mileage, the Congress Vice President minced no words to slam the Naveen Patnaik government in the state and accused it of being oblivious towards healthcare and education sector.

“The Chief Minister (Naveen) does not bother about the future of Odisha. The government has lost its focus on improvement of healthcare and development. It has failed the people of the state,” said Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi also said that he visited Sishu Bhawan to draw the attention of the government to the real cause. “I wanted to review the situation and put pressure on the government to focus on healthcare”, he added.

The Sishu Bhawan in Cuttack had come to limelight following the death of 62 infants in 12 days last month. The DMET report blamed the hospital management and administration for the lapses, but ruled out clinical negligence. Later, many staff were either suspended or transferred. The Superintendent was also transferred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Brahmapur.
