Rath Yatra: Pulling of Chariots to Gundicha Temple will resume today

The pulling of three giant chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra was stopped by the temple administration, as the sun sets in. The chariots had to be abandoned in the midway instead of reaching to the Gundicha Temple.

According to the temple sources, the pulling of chariots will start again today at 9 am.

The chariot of Lord Balabhadra was halted near Balagandi, chariot of Devi Subhadra at Bagala Dharmasala and chariot of Lord Jagannath at Srinaara respectively.

The pulling of chariots started at 4.35 pm after the symbolic sweeping of the chariot floors (chhera panhara) by Puri King Gajapati Dibya Singh Deb.

The three deities will rest at the Gundicha Temple for seven days and start their return journey on the ninth day.
