Sishu Bhawan Death: BJP protests across Odisha, Health Minister Fumes

As the infant death toll at Cuttack Sishu Bhawan reached 62 in the last 13 days, forcing the Odisha Government to suspend 2 Nurses and 3 Attendants and deploying 7 Senior Resident Doctors, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) cadres held protests across 314 blocks in Odisha.

Apart from holding protests at block levels, the BJP cadres also held demonstration outside the CDMO and ADMO offices in all districts. BJP’s state unit President KV Singhdeo led the protests in his constituency Patnagarh.

Meanwhile, Odisha Health Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak accused the abJp of politicising the issue. Without taking names, he blamed his adversary Bijoy Mohapatra. “As this is a case of healthcare, they should have politicised the matter. We are doing our best to implement all suggestions to improve the system and facilities at Sishu Bhawan and MKCG,” he said.
