Sudam Marandi to lead Odisha Delegation to Assam

Sudam-MarandiSenior tribal leader and Sports & Youth Services Minister Shri Sudam Marandi has condemned the brutal killing of innocent tribals in Assam’s Kokrajhar and Sonitpur districts and decided to visit the state along with a delegation to take stock of the situation. The tribal community in Odisha have deplored the incident.

Sudam Marandi, who has been fighting for the tribals’ rights since his JMM days, has expressed deep concerns and anguish over the violence in Assam. The Bodo militant had attacked some Assam villages bordering Arunachal Pradesh and Bhutan on Tuesday night, killing at least 65 people. 250 tribals are still missing.

Earlier, another Odisha leader and Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram visited Assam along with Home Minister Rajnath Singh to review the situation. Prior to that, he held talks with Assam CM Tarun Gogoi and sought security and all types of assistance to the tribals.
